Nutrabiotic® GOS can contribute to the long term success and sustainability of the animal health industry

GOS is the foundation of gut health and can provide significant health benefits in animals, such as improved animal welfare, productivity and the potential to reduce antibiotic consumption.

Evidence suggests that, when eliminating or limiting the use of antibiotics in livestock, prebiotics can improve Feed Conversion Ratios, increase Average Daily Gain and improve animal welfare. Also, data suggest that in poultry, these feed ingredients can help reduce bacterial carcass contamination by reducing the intestinal bacterial load of organisms such as Campylobacter and Salmonella.

The role of Nutrabiotic® GOS in animal supplements

Nutrabiotic® GOS, available directly from Dairy Crest, is the brand name for GOS in animal nutrition applications for chickens, pigs, calves, aquaculture and companion animals.

Academic and farm trials using Nutrabiotic® GOS in chicken and piglet feed have shown potential benefits. These include over 10% increase in weight gain, over 10% improvement in feed efficiency, greater beneficial bacterial counts and improved nutrient absorption. In poultry, these potential benefits also included a reduction in Campylobacter contamination.

Nutrabiotic® GOS is manufactured at our brand new, state-of-the-art facility

This safeguarded continuity of supply means we can meet your business’ needs both now, and in the future.

Dairy Crest sponsor The Livestock Gut Health Forum

The Livestock Gut Health Forum was founded in 2017, with the aim of providing thought-provoking comment and consensus on the role of prebiotics, probiotics and volatile fatty-acids in improving gut health – with an initial focus on GOS. The role of the forum is for like-minded scientists and researchers involved in improving gut health to review the latest scientific evidence. In its continued quest to support the animal husbandry industry, Dairy Crest sponsors the forum.
